The backside of The Wooden Nickel is Woody's...
This restaurant has two very different atmospheres.
The front door is the wooden nickel which is a nice family friendly space...
the back side of the restaurant is Woody's...with an awesome old wood and brick bar feel that serves off of the main menu.
I ordered a prime rib sandwich (a sandwich size cut off of a prime rib, not shaved) with au jus, fries and simple salad that was fantastic! (for a very reasonable price I might add),
My partner had the chicken marsala with a side of fettuccine, salad and breadsticks very tasty. (The marsala sauce is lighter than we were used to with sauteed mushrooms and tomato but light and delicious!)
The staff was kind and food came out in a very timely manner.
Next time we are in Kirksville Mo we will go back.

We ate here on Friday afternoon in the summer. My tenderloin was very good and the fries were very good. I liked the house dressing on the salad.
The atmosphere was okay and the waitress was very busy and all alone while trying to wait on too many tables. She was doing her best but it would have probably been better if she had some help.
My wife loved her fries and the tartar sauce but the fish was not her favorite.
My daughter had the breaded chicken sandwich but she was not a fan of all the breading and felt the chicken was a little overcooked. She liked everything else.
Overall very good but it could have been a little better.

Had grub catered to uncle kevins place.
Phenomenal Food!
Ribs, Brisket and Smoked Sausage with a few sides!
The sauce was out of this world!
The chips were great!
All the food was Gone!
Just wish I had a pic of my plate!
We've also been to the restaurant!

The fries and onion rings are decent. The prime rib sandwich, The meat was GREY and well over cooked. The Hamburger that was ordered as "medium" came out quite rare. The Alfredo was horrendous, I have no idea how you could mess up alfredo and make it unedible...but they did. The salads must be pre-made as it was becoming translucent in the bottom of the bowl. For the lack of quality and wait time, it wasn't spent on food quality.

For us it was more like a 3.5 but we're planning on going back in again when the AC is fixed. It was our 6 month wedding anniversary so it was a special occasion. A friend recommended the Wooden Nickel. We were seated in the second dining room which was very busy and told the AC wasn't working, it was in the 90's that day. We got seated next to a party of 8 with young kids that were getting ready to leave near the hallway leading to the bar and restrooms. We asked for a different table one row up and the waiter said he couldnt because it wasn't his station. We decided to make the best of it. My husband's brisket was dry, only lightly smoked and chewy, he was disappointed as he loves good BBQ. My steak was great, a home run, it was cooked perfect, tender and generous portion. My husband ate a third of it. A second party of 8 got seated next to us, again also with kids. It was OK but I was hoping for a romantic dinner experience and this was not it. With the AC being out and a fan was running and we think it was blowing hair around as there was a hair in my salad and one in my husband's French fries. We paid with a debit card and there was a charge for that tacked on to the bill. When we go back we will probably both order the steak and on a night with AC.

Food was good, service sucked. Multiple peoples food order was messed up. If you have a party of 12 they won't push tables together because of a possible unlikely emergency that could unfold. Meanwhile, they'll leave a service tray between two tables preventing you from getting up and going to the restrooms.

Traveling for work and decided to stop into a local establishment. Wasn’t very busy was that very quickly. Server came over I asked asked a few questions he said the chicken Marsala was pretty popular. The tomatoes in the mushrooms were the only thing really edible. The chicken was charred with absolutely no flavor. I was looking for the wine sauce but it was only oil. The baked potato was extremely hot and fresh. The salad was mediocre. The lettuce was wilted.
As far as talking to someone about it, I only seen my server when he took my order brought my food that was it .
