The Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes is one of the most breathtaking recreational spots in the Northwest, and if you haven't explored it yet, I highly recommend doing so. Spanning over 70 miles, the trail offers varying levels of difficulty, from easy to moderate to quite challenging, whether you're biking or skating. The final five miles, with a 3% grade, can be particularly demanding. Every year, my skate crew embarks on a multi-day camping and skating adventure along the entire trail—an event I eagerly anticipate all year. Along the way, there are countless scenic spots to visit, with plenty of opportunities to dip your feet or take a refreshing swim.

You might spot members of the 208 Speed Skating Team cruising along the trail, especially during their annual event over the 4th of July weekend.

One thing to note is the limited availability of freshwater sources along the trail. There's a spot where you can buy water bottles for a donation, but otherwise, you'll need to bring your own. It would be great if the trail were upgraded with a few more water stations. Restrooms are available every 3 to 5 miles in some sections, though in others, they can be as far 8 miles apart, if I remember correctly.

We started our ride over at the marina at mile 7.2. We loved riding over the bridge. The trail is so nice And in some areas you rode in the shade. There was an area with picnic tables, a bike repair station and bathrooms along the way. That was a nice rest stop. It was around 98 degrees so we cut our ride short and only did around 9 miles. A lot of people use the trail. It is also a nice walking trail. I would like to ride some more in some different areas.

We parked in Plummer. The first Miles were downhill (which means uphill on the return). Beautiful scenery, well maintained, lots of benches and picnic tables and bathrooms. We went 26 miles to Medimont and back .

One of the best and longest asphalt trails I've cycled on.

If ending in Plummer you can journey 10 miles onto the Palouse to Cascades trail which will take you most the way across Washington state.

There is a lack of campgrounds on the Idaho-Washington border

We started biking at Plummer and went about a mile past the Medimont trailhead. Then we turned around and went back to Hawleys Landing. It was a very scenic and beautiful ride. I think the Chatcolet side of the Coeur d'Alene trail is the best part of the trail to ride on. I enjoyed going over the Chatcolet bridge. We even saw a mama moose and her baby on the side of the trail. There are plenty places to rest with benches and restrooms. It's a great trail for everyone.

The trail was breathtaking! It was such a nice trail that we probably rode further than we should have. It pushed the batteries on our e-bikes to their limits and our saddle bums to the max. 37.5 round-trip starting at Plummer. The bridge was fun!
