I would not recommend this card shop to anyone. Not only are they forcing you to spend a ridiculous amount of money just to qualify for the “privilege” of buying their already overpriced packs, but the whole place reeks of greed. On top of that, the owner has a huge ego and seems more interested in showing off than actually supporting the community. It’s clear they care more about their bottom line and stroking his own ego in the reviews than providing a good experience for customers. There are plenty of better shops out there that treat their customers with respect—this isn’t one of them.

I'm waiting for the day this place shuts down and gets a new owner. This place is just a huge ripoff from every aspect of the store. Gatekeeping Pokémon cards, overpriced on pretty much everything in the store! Some of the games look beat and they still charge top ebay prices without proper reductions. Just shut down or change ownership already. I'm surprised you still have people coming in the door but a fool and their money are shortly separated.

To the owners reply it's not just the Pokémon cards. I've been in the store a few times and your games are wayyy over priced. Example you have suikoden 5 for the ps2 in the glass case for $127 average price on ebay $90 with a range of $40-$100. Keep in mind an ebay seller is going to lose about 15% on the sale price possibly more. You have over inflated prices, and clearly have no idea how to manage inventory/prices in order to stay competitive in the market. Eventually you will fail inventory sitting doesn't pay the bills.

And I don't need to pay the cheapest price, I need to best price people want to feel like they are getting a good deal and not the victim of greed. The advantage to buying in store is I have it now rather than later. Everyone has a phone and everyone can look up prices google is free you are essentially charging $110 for a $6 pack of cards plus some other overpriced items. Any collector knows what prices should be and we all have several tools to track and chart them so we don't get ripped off from stores like yours and that's why a lot of your "good" items sit for so long. Also your arrogance and inflated ego will be part of your downfall. You aren't getting review bombed for just Pokémon cards its everything "in the store".

Scalpers are mad that this place isn’t letting them buy up all the new set to resell for profit on Facebook or their own business. Ignore the group of bad reviews.
Now for my actual review of this place:
Staff is always friendly, there’s this one guy with a big beard we always see who is extremely chill and nice. Ordering single cards online from here is pretty cheap and close to TCG prices without having to wait for the obscenely long shipping. (Your cards here are typically ready next day.)

The only downside of this place is that their sealed stuff is pretty pricey, the Lorcana “battle academy” is $30 here over being $12 at walmart.

Overall, love this place, only real card shop in dekalb outside of seven out cards. Will always go here and feel welcomed.

The ego this store has to insult customer who are clearly being price gouged on everything in the store. The greed of owner selling pokemon cards at 100% mark up after spending 100 dollars on other insanely priced items is sick. Goto ebay check sold prices, they will continue to have good stock levels because no one wants to pay the prices they want. Vote with your wallet and go elsewhere.

I have loved this store since before the Gaming Goose days, but I am super disappointed in the policy they recently implemented essentially gatekeeping the new Pokémon set.
In order to purchase one of the new packs at $10, they required a $100 purchase in other store merchandise. If buying the Elite Trainer Box, I was told that a $900 purchase of other merchandise would be required before being “eligible” to purchase the box. I thought I understood the policy wrong, but an employee at another store confirmed.
I realize that popular items can be sold out quickly and demand is high for new packs, but putting a Pokémon set behind a $900 paywall feels like price gouging. There are other, more ethical ways to handle demand like this and it is beyond disappointing that someone dreamed up and approved this plan.
I’ll be looking for fun in one of the many other gaming stores around town from here forward.

Extremely disappointed with this shop. My husband and I have been coming here for a couple months and yesterday we decided to stop by in hopes to get the new pokemon cards. We wanted to support a smaller shop/business instead of waiting at target or Walmart for the cards. It’s honestly so ridiculous and insane that you had to buy at least $100 of other store merchandise in order to be able to buy a $10 pack. $900 in order to be “eligible” for an ETB which to me doesn’t even sound like a guarantee. Trying to use this as an opportunity to incentivize your loyal customers just doesn’t sit right with me especially when it’s just making everyone turn to other stores instead. You’re better off going to fair game in Geneva and Danes Games for preorders!! They’re the best and actual care about their customers that love the hobby.

What a horrible store with horrible employees. You can tell just by the responses they give to these reviews that they genuinely don’t care about customers. Salty, uneducated, and poor business practices. People like this do not deserve to own businesses.(owners are now personally attacking every review they don’t like. Way to demonstrate exactly what my review is stating… YOU made a bad call with your terrible policies. And our great community recognizes that. But instead of changing or taking accountability, the business is doubling down on being terrible)
