The best service and food. Went with a group of 9 but an additional 5 showed up. The restaurant was very accommodating and just made room for us. Had a wonderful time. Food was very delicious. Mostly pouched eggs.. some got pancakes.. others enjoyed salad.

Maybe it's because this place really has no other competition or maybe because the staff just didn't really care, but my heart broke at the experience I just had at this restaurant. It was a place I went to for many years with my daughter and always had an amazing time with her with great food and friendly staff. That was not what we experienced today. Maybe it was an off day or maybe they changed owners, but the charm is no longer there from what was once our favorite place to go on a Daddy Daughter Date.

Stopped here because when I had been here last time, it was the same amazing experience everyone has shared in reviews from the past. This time though was much different. We entered to a sign that says "A copy of our health department report is available to view if you ask." So yeah, that sort of freaked me out a bit but remembering my last time eating here, I forged on. The menus were given to us and handwritten on the front in a note stuck into the sleeve is "Please Tip in Cash" which I asked if there was an ATM and I was told, "No, it's OK, you can tip on a card too." and I wasn't the only person who was asking for an ATM in seeing this note as I ate there. Next, I ordered a Cheeseburger Medium Rare with Cheddar Cheese. When it came out, I noticed it was a square of American Cheese. I figured I would just chalk it up to a busy kitchen and move on. I prepped my burger and bit into it... the inside was still raw in the middle and only cooked around the edges. That is rare no matter who the chef is. When I say I never send food back, I really never do but I can not eat raw hamburger. I told the manager who then shrugged it off. I said again, "This burger is raw, I can not eat this" and the manager shouts for the waitress who comes over and asks me "What's the problem?" I then show her the pink meat and she takes the burger and says "Ok, we will take care of that for you"... 2 minutes later she returns with my burger deconstructed... "is this better?" "well, I have to bite into it first but I will tell you. At this point, I have lost my appetite and I am being treated like a problem because I didn't want to eat raw meat. No apology, no sense of even caring about the quality of the food that came out to us. My daughter ordered a wrap, which was really just slapped together and rolled sloppy and at least the fruit plate had no issues. When asking about a refill of my soda, I was told it was not a free refill. Not even taking a chance for an olive branch for not cooking my meal correctly.
For a $44 lunch (before Tip) I felt like I was there doing them a favor. The manager finally came over as I was paying and asked "Was everything alright?" which I answered "No, my burger was inedible and I really don't want to pay for it." She replied "You did take some bites of it sir, so you did eat it." Yeah... Maybe they make awesome breakfast but if you are going for a lunch spot, I would drive the extra 5 miles to another place in any direction. And I did leave a tip even though I felt no one really gave me adequate service... I just left it on the card. Thanks Blue Bird, It was my last time eating with you.

Unusually busy Saturday afternoon which (who I believe was the owner told us as we waited an hour for our food). It’s a small packed place. We showed up (family of four) and waited 30 minutes (which we were told it would be so that was fine). Then we were sat and had an attentive waitress. We ordered pretty much right away and then waited very patiently for an hour for our food to arrive. They kept apologizing for our wait even though we never once asked about our food because we could tell it would be awhile. We were told this was rare and they are never this busy. We were very patient and I assumed it would be great diner food coming my way which is why I stayed patient. When our food finally arrived I’m sorry to say that it was nothing special at all. Kind of disappointing actually when basic diner brunch entrees were an average of $16. We got the bill and with our rush to finally get out of the cramped restaurant with our kids I didn’t notice we were taxed double what we should’ve been. And now that I think of that i would expect an offer to get at least something comped for our wait time which was never offered. Instead we get double charged on the tax.

Wonderful old fashioned diner with great food, friendly service and a storied history. Reasonable prices and friendly patrons. A trip back in time, in the best way !
