This place has a fantatsic location as we were doing a little shopping. There was no crowd, a beautiful day and a great time to take advantage of the patio. I ordered a salad and the spinach artichoke dip. My daughter ordered a Chicken sandwich (special order no sauces) and a salad.

Though the location and food was excellent, you may see I hit the service with a 2. I believe the person may just have been having a bad day. Attitude is everything. $38 and 20% tip later, her attitude during ordering and closing the order was poor. It happens. I will give it another shot as I've been a few times.

Good sandwiches, soup and salad. Nice atmosphere. Good variety of food. The shop is clean. The staff look good. The food prep area looks very clean. Many people go there. The food is appetizing and fresh.

We were headed to Fast Eddie's, but it was unexpectedly closed. Continued down the road and happened upon Brown Bag Bistro. While trying to decide what to order, (never been there before) one of the busy staff took the time to point out the detailed menus in the basket near us. Decided on French onion and loaded potato soups along with their pretzel and cheese appetizer. Our selections were delivered to us after a short wait. Both soups were served piping hot and were delicious! The 8 inch warmed pretzel sticks were baked to a wonderful bronze color and served with a smooth cheese sauce. They were wonderful! The highlight of the meal though, was the baguette served with our soups. They were melt in your mouth delicious. They were so good in fact, that we just had to purchase some to take with. The wonderful staff made that easy to do despite not having it on the menu. We are definitely going back soon, hope to see you all there. Don't think you'll be disappointed!

Very cute warm atmosphere sandwich shop. Had the Sammy Roo and Mac & Cheese... the sause that's used on the sandwich was absolutely amazing and the whole thing was just so tasty. The Mac was great, I could taste the "extra" touch that made it soo good. Very happy to have discovered this place, and its not too far from my house. Im so coming back here for a quick weekend bite to eat. You all are doing it right here!

Food is AMAZING, to say the least. A favorite for sure. Very busy on the weekend, sometimes the wait for food can stretch into an hour, but definitely worth the wait. Food came out hot and fresh. The building is very cozy and beautiful. Outside seating is available along with plenty of on street parking.

Really cute spot and the Granny's grilled cheese w tomato soup was incredible. So tasty and interesting. Also tried the cheesy jalapeno bread and that was a lot better than we were expecting.

Everyone was so accommodating and got our orders in even though we arrived right before closing. Next time I'm in town I'm definitely getting another meal or two there.

This is easily our favorite restaurant in Alton, and the whole St. Louis area. I try something new (almost) every single time we go, and I have yet to find something I don’t love! Today I got the Garden Variety sandwich with a side of pasta salad and both were phenomenal. Everything is so fresh and clearly made from scratch. The dressing and hummus they put on the Garden Variety is addictive. I didn’t get it today, but the Broccoli Cheddar soup is the best you can find. The patio is so quaint and relaxing. I honestly can’t say enough great things about this place. You can really tell that the owners take great pride in their food and atmosphere.

Strike That Reverse It

I had Brown Bag cater a small birthday party and the food was fabulous! Chris was great to work with and everything was ready on time. I would highly recommend Brown Bag for any of your party needs!
