Steak 'n Shake: Hit and Miss
The crew at Steak 'n Shake was undeniably enthusiastic and efficient. My burger was a flavorful delight, showcasing the classic charm of the restaurant. However, the dining experience was somewhat marred by a few issues.

The fries, unfortunately, were served cold, a disappointing contrast to the warm, juicy burger. Additionally, the absence of caffeine-free diet drinks was a noticeable omission. The restaurant's cleanliness was inconsistent, with spotless bathrooms juxtaposed against a dirty dining area. The floors and walls could certainly benefit from a thorough cleaning. While I enjoyed the taste of the fries, the portion size for the "large" order felt underwhelming, especially when compared to the generous kids' meal fries. I didn't notice that the staff walked out and delivered everybody's order to their table but mine. There was no rush in service to explain this.

Despite these drawbacks, the friendly service and tasty burger left a positive impression. With some attention to detail, this Steak 'n Shake could elevate its overall dining experience. Would I give them another try, absolutely. Who doesn't have a bad day once in awhile.

Tasting the caramelized onions on my butter steakburgers was like choking on a salt lick. I asked the counter if that's how it's supposed to taste. "We make it according to the recipe" was their response. Not even the slightest intention of fixing anything. The burger was salty even after I scraped off the disgusting salt sludge.

I ordered a coffee and they weren't even sure they had any. They say to wait so they could "warm it up". It tasted about a week old.

Wife told me the women's bathroom had no tp as well.

At least the frisco melt was edible.

Just go to literally any other burger place. Save yourself the trouble.

I can’t even begin to say how uncomfortable our trip was. I walked in. Ordered at the Kiosk and it appeared the place was deserted. Someone finally came up after I yelled back for help. We were the only ones in there. We then waited about 20 min, the manager and cook then came out and talked to us. Dancing on each other, the female manager rubbing her butt on the cook guy , hanging on each other and generally making me and my kids feel so awkward. They talked about making things fun for everyone, which is great, but like…. Can we please have our food. We waited another 15 minutes and the food was fine. NEVER going back. As my 8 year old said. That was so cringe 😂

Food was good, but service was horrible. I did an online order and when I came in and asked for my order, they acted like I was bothering them. The 2 women working there was having a non work conversation, that was not suitable for work. Then acted so ignorant to me. The man there was great and helpful but the 2 women need a good training from him. I couldn't believe how rude they were to me. I don't think I will ever return because of them. I visited today at 430ish.

No counter service, no wait staff, no drive-through.
Orders are placed on a kiosk, and then the wait begins. It took 35 minutes to get my shake. The place was empty. Only one other customer who couldn't figure out how to place an order. They ordered 15 minutes after I did, and they received their order before I did.
If I didn't know I ordered a peppermint shake, I couldn't tell from drinking it.

Worst experience ever. If I had to compare it to another diner, White Castle in Bradley, even they're better.

My mother and I walk in, no one greeted us, but they looked at us. Had to order at a kiosk, ridiculous. No servers anymore, so that's sad, we loved the smiling faces. The amount of people that walked out after they asked the cook if they had to use the kiosk and he said yes was just... wow.

The floors were filthy and there wasn't a single clean table. We sat at a dirty table, but it was cleaner than most there.

No one brings your food to you, they call your name and number (inaudible, I might add) and you have to go up and get it!

Also, we were about to leave and the two cooks were asking where their cigarettes were, like we wanna hear that while we just finished eating. Keep that talk for the back.

The food was good, but it wasn't even hot, it was almost less than room temp in my opinion. This is the first time we've been to a S&S in YEARS and we will NEVER come back.

Ordered hot dog with ketchup, mustard and onion got no ketchup but did get relish mustard and onion. Hit dog was burnt and cold. Fries were way to salty! Use to be a nice place. From outside it looked like it was closed . Sad
