Do not freaking go here. TICKS EVERYWHERE ! So many ticks. I didn’t know it was possible to get this many ticks.

Seriously I used to come here all the time back about 6-8 years ago. It was beautiful. Water was pristine, you could see right to the bottom. The plants were kept back from all the foot traffic.

It was a hot spot that no one really knew about so it was very serene...

.. We went back yesterday for the first time since college and the water was pitch black where you can’t see a thing (I wonder why that happens ?). As we were leaving my wife noticed little tiny bugs walking across her phone. We check each other and, sure enough, all 4 of us were loaded in ticks of all sizes. It was horrendous.

We had to throw away all our clothes, shoes, and pretty much everything that we touched. I’ll also have to bug bomb my truck.

I gave it two stars because it’s still a beautiful place and the water is at least cold and the rope swing still works (albeit it looks about 10 years old). But I wouldn’t wish that many ticks on anyone - about 30-50 per person.

The water is a little dark right now but very clean and refreshing. Other times it's super clear.

It's still closed apparently and the forestry service claims they are restoring it and doing it as money comes in, yet they refuse to let locals clear the trails. All it was in the past was regular trails, nothing special, so I don't know what ridiculous money they need to get it done

If you’re the adventurous type that prefers trails others rarely seek out it’s a good one I don’t mind that it’s overgrown or less popular I’d rather have the whole trailed myself. There’s a lot of construction going on on the highway right now I drove right past it but I turned around and found it it’s a little hidden spot it’s pretty cool.

Not widely used. The trail has many fallen trees and debris....of course we just had a Hurricane so thats understandable. Other than that it looks like it could use some care...upkeep.

Tried to come here in May 2022. Followed the directions on the website but there was no trailhead to be see. A complete waist of time and effort. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Promise Sink - It is actually on the "Federal" part of of the trail, but worth ignoring the "this is not a trail" sign.

The trails need better marking and it needs to have the grass and weeds trimmed.
