Love how beautiful the area is when on this trail. It's located out on the prairie. You go between fields at the beginning of your start at Meyer road. But as you head into town you will go past Lots of development areas. It takes you down through CDA and by the Spokane River. You wind all the way through CDA by the lake, through downtown, and continue out towards Higgins Point. So many miles of trail. It's so great you don't have to deal with traffic the whole time.
This trail is well maintained. But watch for those who do not clean up after their pet. We see this now and then.
There are many restrooms along the way and some water stops. Just remember when the city locks the public restroom you will have to find other options along the path.
Biking, running, walking, ECT is done on these trails.

Very nice trail to get around while biking, I live in Post Falls and use this trail to get to the hospital and shops like Lowes or Winco. Was recently extended to Meyer road. Some tricky areas to get around do to construction. Only real complaint is irresponsible dog owners who dont pick up after their pets.

I love this trail but fair warning! This is a means to an end, all in all it’s a boring walk/bike until you hit centennial trail.
From centennial trail it goes along the lake and into downtown CdA, just follow the trail across Atlas and then across Kathleen and keep going straight.

I've rated this a three because of the number of irresponsible dog owners who let their dogs off a leash and walk down this trail. It makes it dangerous for other people who have dogs as the owners rarely have control over them. They let them run around in the fields and that impacts others enjoyment of the space. From Heutterr to Atlas, you are walking alongside a field. I would suggest starting this trail on the Atlas side and going towards Dalton. It's a nicer section of trail, and less used.

A faster method to and from Post Falls. Unlike Centennial which hugs I-90 going between PF and CDA, or the more scenic Spokane River trail they’re constructing in the new Atlas Mill Park, the Prairie Trail is a straight shot and relatively level all the way to Kathleen, where it then descends as you head toward the college and downtown.
Unfortunately, this wonderful trail currently terminates at Huetter forcing you to bike in Big Sky Estates, Poleline or Praire with strong traffic to continue on your way west. However as soon as Union Pacific gives up this almost completely abandoned Feeley Spur rail line to Post Falls, we will finally have a completely paved trail from Rathdrum (via ID-53 trail) to Coeur d’Alene ❤️

Well paved path. It goes by the firearm range in Hayden, so you're likely to hear shots when you're walking/cycling. The path as it is now ends in the middle of no where (an area under development really).

Great place to hop on the CdA trail system. Small parking area, but not generally busy.
