Edit - came back with party of 3. Food still great. Played Hues and Cues then 10 Days in the USA.

We had a party of 5 for the soft opening. We had a great time. Food was great. Unique building. Former Arsenal Brewery Bottling Shed and police dept. Old jail cells used for private rooms now aka Vaults. Will definitely come back.

We had an incredible time at Pieces in St. Louis! This board game bar and restaurant near the AB Brewery is a must-visit for anyone who loves games, great food, and a fun atmosphere.

The board game selection is massive—perfect for trying out new games or testing one before committing to buying it. Our server, Grey, was absolutely phenomenal. They were funny, personable, and gave us spot-on recommendations. Honestly, I want to be their friend in real life!

As for the food? Delicious. We had wonton chips, waffle fries, buffalo cauliflower, and fried rice bowls—everything was fantastic. They offer great vegan and gluten-free options, which was a huge plus. But the real star? THE HOUSE RANCH. Wow. Just wow. It’s next-level good. They also have an impressive mocktail menu.

A couple of things to note: It does get loud, so if you’re looking for a quiet game night, this might not be the spot. Also, the seating isn’t the most comfortable for long gaming sessions, so bringing a sweater or a cushion might help.

Overall, Pieces is such a fun, welcoming spot, and I can’t wait to go back!

Hidden Gem!
Super cool gatsby-esque themed interior.
Cute Cafe and more perivate seating in the front....then you enter the 'main' portion of building. Big open space, lots of games to choose from, service is quick, food is decent, and the hot chocolate is amazing!

Definitely a great spot to spend some time with family or friends (I would recommend to go before 7pm).

Pieces was already great, and the new location takes it to another level! The food is consistently phenomenal, and the staff is wonderful. They accommodate to your needs,” and are very knowledgeable and friendly. It’s a wonderful hangout spot with the coolest atmosphere. They have a neat flag system that signals the servers to come over when you’re ready so they don’t interrupt you while you’re playing games. I’ve been there several times, and I’m always excited to go back. Truly a gem in the STL area!

Why is the food here so good? I ask because it absolutely does not have to be. I feel like for a successful board game restaurant/bar space, there are three main points.
Good Game Selection
Full Bar with fun drink options
Excellent Food
Every board game place I have ever been to has excelled at 2 out of 3 of those and the 3rd things is always... pretty meh. So my question is why do they have 800+ games, A full bar, AND the food is exceptional? I understand it, but I respect it.

I rarely give 5 stars across the board, but for Pieces its worth it. I visited the new space last night and it was such a great experience. All of the reasons I didn't enjoy the last venue in Soulard (tight spaces, hard to maneuver especially with large parties, noise level) have all been fixed by the new place by the brewery. Its a beautiful space. If it has been a while since you've visited there are subtle changes that they have made.
1. Better organization of their massive game collection. Its all on one wall now so its easier to peruse (and so your butt isnt in someones face while they eat.)
2. The 'flags' at the table to mark service are all 3D printed. Board game genre signage is all lasercut. Its the little things, yall.
3. Three private game rooms, and a large reservable space for parties.
4. The restaurant was full and it was not too loud. I don't know enough about interior design to know why this is a thing.
5. Expanded menu and Drink Menu (Menu has gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options)
6. Planned outdoor space (it was not open when I was there because it was like 30 degrees out)

If its been a while since you've visited, I highly recommend checking out the new space.

We were there for 9-1/2 hours and played numerous board games. We took time for a wonderful meal, everything was good. But shout out to the Southern Waffle Fries. They were exceptionally good and quite a large quantity. Also had the Giant Pretzel for snack in the evening. The BEST pretzel I've ever had. It came with sides of cheese sauce and mustard. Was visiting from SD and we'll definitely be back!

Went for the first time on trivia night and had a blast! The food and drinks were great and the service was as well. I was so busy playing trivia that I only got one picture which shows only a tiny portion of the games they have. We went a bit early for happy hour before the game started. I got the big pretzel with both mustard and cheese dips. I had an urban chestnut bushelhead cider to go with it. Daughter had the spreadable dip trio which was delicious and an elder sign cocktail. I met her friends , had a great time and our team won the trivia contest! I definitely will be back!
