I couldn't be more pleased. They're right on when they say it's like your grandma used to make. I nearly teared up taking the first bite!

I tried the pork cutlet, fried zucchini, potatoes and gravy, and cherry pie. Everything was outstanding. I sat not far from the register, and it was so heartwarming to hear the way the staff speaks to the customers--asking about their families and saying, "We missed you!" That must mean so much to older folks who frequent the place. It really did feel homey, with a family vibe, like a holiday dinner. The server in the dining room area is also very sweet.

Remember to bring cash! Schnucks nearby has an ATM.

Combo Review after five visits. One on a Sunday. One a week later on a Monday. The third on a Thursday evening. Plus a Wednesday. Always fresh and good.
This review I will end it with 4 pro and 4 cons.
But first a little need to know information about the place:
The receipt is one person on my first visit.
I gave service zero stars because I didn't see any and they create atmosphere to tip twice. Tip at Cash register and tip at the table although nobody serves you.
This was my first time here.
1)Cash only absolutely no credit card. Many many signs to warn you, so no excuses that you didn't know.
2)You are charged ala carte. Everything is charged individually. Even a butter packet is 0.12cents a butter packet. A pickle spear is 0.20cents.
3)No Senior discount.
4)Everyone there is a senior. Seriously!!
So the cons first. They may sound weak, but in my eyes important.
Cons....
Con #1) can't find extra napkins. You get one napkin with your knife, fork, spoon.
Con#2) You can refill your coffee. it's out in the dining area, but you will never find a waitress to refill soda or tea.
Con#3) missing waitress. Actually, I saw the two boy waiters and one lady waitress on Sunday, but they were hands full cleaning tables. Monday was one waitress and she was cleaning tables. No time for service to you, the customer. I suppose to some people this is a big no, but it is a cafeteria. Once you sit down, you really don't need anything.
#4) yea this a big one. Tipping. They have a tip jar at the register. So we put tip in there. Then we realized that they clean the tables, so I guess you got to the tip the table buss people. So you tip again. I guess I would not mind but, you go through a cafeteria line and select. Then you have no waitress but you tip a table cleaners.
Pro.........
Pro#1)food is good quality, and you get a nice serving for cost paid.
Pro#2)plenty entree to pick from. Plenty sides to pick from. Plenty desert to pick from.
Pro#3)salad was quality, both visits. Side salad, beet salad, slaw salad, etc. Many salad to pick from. I made salads a separate Pro because quality places have quality salads. So the salad quality and selection alone sold me on this place.
#4)I got to add a fourth. Coffee is really good and it is out on the floor so you can get up and serve yourself. Since I want more than one cup and want it when I want it, to serve myself is very very important to me. But if you a soda or ice tea drinker like my wife, you get one. glass, so pace yourself.
*I absolutely would return.
* My wife said she would return.
This place has become our new default go to place. It can answer everyone's taste.

My Salisbury steak was raw and they wouldn’t exchange it. I wonder if the oven was working. I’m worried about food poisoning and I hope none of the older people get sick. The manager just said it cooked long enough but the meat shows otherwise.

Miss Sherri"s Cafeteria is a little gem tucked away in South County. If you love old school Cafeteria choices you'll ♥ Miss Sherri's. The food was reasonably priced--lunch with dessert ,drink and a 3 item main meal under $20. I went with several friends and we played a game of Scrabble before lunch. Also there is someone there who will assist carrying a tray if there is a small child or someone with a disability who might need assistance.

For cafeteria food it was very enjoyable and the prices were very reasonable. The selection of food was very good as well. The staff was friendly and seemed to know many of the patrons. Having said that, this rating would have been five stars however eating at this location presents an inconvenience of going to an ATM to get cash. This establishment only deals in cash, no cards or any other form of payment. When we asked why the cashier explained the prices would have to rise so significantly to pay for the expense of allowing cards as tender they feel the prices would be too high for the clientele. I've worked for years in the retail industry at all levels and this explanation is not acceptable or reasonable. Side note; this was the first time I've actually touched cash in over two years. One might say that fact is irrelevant, however I feel it speaks for itself. If every establishment I've visited in two years can afford to pay for the card systems, logic says this place can as well.

My great grandma introduced me to this place & the whole reason we came was for the home made pie. The elderly definitely gate keep this place lol but that’s okay! I can see why. My mother had the fried fish & it was so good!! I tried the chicken & dumplings, the chicken was so moist & delicious, the dumplings not so much. But they have TONS of options. It reminds me of a school lunch line but waaaay better tasting!

Now let’s talk about the whole reason we went, which was the pie! It was so good! The crème brûlée was by far my favorite!! We probably took home 8 different slices of pie lol but I will say, the end crust wasn’t that good. It was almost like a burnt butter taste. Maybe we just had gotten one that was left in too long or had too much butter on the outside brim of the pie but either way, it wasn’t a deal breaker for me because I still loved it! I just didn’t eat the outer crust. My grandma said the same thing though so maybe that’s just their recipe idk

If your looking for a place to take your mom, grandma, or mawmaw. This is the place. Or even just for some coffee & pie!! They have all the old time favorites!

All in all, I wasn’t blown away. But I loved the pie!!! I just wish the outer crust tasted just as good as the rest of the pie did!

Workers were 10/10 amazing & nice!

Great selection of food. One of the few cafeterias left in STL. SOCIAL distancing, masks and lower capacity all in place.
EDIT: We have returned a number of times for supper. Truly enjoy the home cooking. The serving staff and table staff are wonderful. I am so happy we have this treasure in Saint Louis.

Homestyle cooking in an old fashioned restaurant with cafeteria style ordering. You grab a tray and let the workers know which foods you would like. There is always a daily special that is priced very affordably.

It is a place designed for older people I'm guessing but we still had a great time (we are in our 30s).

Plenty of meat entrees, vegetable sides, salads, and pie slices to choose from plus breads and rolls cooked fresh daily.

I don't eat meat so my tray was full of veggies and a slice of chocolate pie (yum!). My boyfriend said the breaded pork chop was very good!
Tip: They only take cash!
