♿️ This park is beautiful and accessible. The only thing truly missing is a trail map. Was unsure of which way to go. There were 2 trails and I was immediately drawn to the bridge and the woods. The bridge has ramps and stairs accommodating everyone.
Found another AED here on the wall of the bathroom. These are pieces of life saving equipment I wish every park or trail could include in their design.
I cannot describe the natural beauty of this park other than its situated half in the woods with the creek running through it. I do believe other than a few places along that trail you could get a wheelchair. The trails are wide, there are some rocky places, but it was most dirt or pine needles.
Now, under the sign that read McCallum Nature Trail, it is gravel. I didn't go there, but did stand at the entrance and saw the gravel. Saving it for another day of adventure.
Ran into someone doing Gross Out Camp and he allowed me to take pics of some of their finds. The moss on a log and the floppy fungi. (Thank you if you happen to read this!)
It is shady in most places and was cool even in the heat. It was a beautiful walk in the woods and there are pavilions and picnic tables along with stone fire pits for bbq's.
There is a huge green space for kids to run and play or your dogs, a play ground, several hammock gardens (which were Eagle Scout projects)one provided hammocks, the other you need to provide the hammock, there is a bridge an Eagle Scout built, two bat houses that were Eagle projects and the creek. It is quiet here and peaceful. It reminds you of all the natural beauty around you and you forget the outside world for an hour or two. What more could you ask for!

Super cool park, LOTS OF SHADE and plenty of places to let the fuzz kids dip their paws in the water or even swim.
The trails are a bit tattered but easy to navigate.
They have restrooms, a cool bridge that goes over to another side of the park which connects to other trails.
Great find and folks you will want to google this one as it's through a neighborhood, so you wouldn't know this hidden gem was back there.
Thanks

A wonderful park situated in a beautiful neighborhood. They had a little library box, picnic tables and a playground as well as some hammocks. Very well kept and still a ton of nature to explore, it's really just about everything you'd want in a park. I wish more neighborhoods had places like this

Something for everyone here. There’s a grassy field in which to run and play. I saw three pavilions with adjacent barbecue pits. There is a playground. The restrooms are clean and well-maintained.

From the parking lot there is a wide, easy trail that is suitable for strollers that takes you along little shades creek to Rocky Ridge Road.

A sturdy footbridge from the main park crosses Little Shades Creek providing access to more rugged trails and additional picnic tables. Turn right after crossing the bridge and you can go down to a place on the creekbank that is perfect for wading, with a pebbled bottom. There are other trails across the bridge-part of the Red Rock Trail System. I followed one up to the Vestavia High School baseball field.

You wouldn't even know this park existed because there aren't any signs from Rocky Ridge Rd. It's fairly secluded which makes it less crowded and clean. It has a grassy open field to run around in, picnic benches, playground, pavilions, trails along the creek.
