I am happy to see this classic establishment return. I love the old fashioned diner interior and atmosphere.
I understand that the owners are new and still trying to perfect their operation so I am going to try and be fair with my review.
I visited right at noon (the peak lunch hour) and they were pretty busy with a lot of customers dining in and many more picking up orders they had placed via telephone. There were 2 cooks in the back and 1 person handling the ordering and serving. All of them were working extremely hard and rushing around trying to handle everything. I did have to wait for a while and they were so busy that I had to ask for a menu but I completely understood that they were a little overwhelmed and under staffed so I am not complaining. I ordered the Patty Melt and it was cooked and ready fairly fast considering how busy they were. The poor young woman serving was doing the job of 3 people and it took a while to get my food even though it was ready for pick up in the kitchen window. By the time I brought my sandwich home, it was pretty dry (not juicy at all) but it tasted good. I was impressed with the hardworking staff and I will come back at a less busy time and try something else. Again, I understand that it takes time to get things right in the restaurant business and I fully support the new owners in having the willingness to keep the legacy of Leon's Diner open.
I will update my review the next time I try them. I would recommend that you give them a chance and be aware they can be busy during peak hours.
Side note: they only serve breakfast menu items until 10 or 10:30 am.

A quaint, cozy little diner. ORIGINALLY was established in 1968, and even though I have lived some times as close as 2 blocks from it. My first visit was only last May. Had I ever been there 30 odd years ago when I first moved to Danville, I would've found NO REASON to ever cook again.
Opening under new ownership but retaining the things that have made it a DEFINITE 👍🏻 GO TO PLACE.
MY first experience was enough to have caused me to stop by Saturday, February 15 2025. Only to find them closed. DRIVING BY yesterday (Saturday, February 16th and seeing cars in the parking lot (which is a little small but well maintained), I stopped. Met with a friendly smile and EVEN THOUGH they were NOT OPEN yet because they were preparing for lunch and doing all the things you do when preparing for your GRAND OPENING, I was told that the breakfast menu was not available at the moment and lunch would begin in a few hours.
When I said I would try again another day, even though all I wanted was a Fried-egg sandwich.
I was offered the kind of service that simply DOESN'T EXIST ANYMORE!
" Well, the grill is hot. Would you like that on sour dough bread?"
Of course I did.
"And could I have American cheese on that?"
"CERTAINLY, anything else, bacon perhaps?"
"Yes, PLEASE add a "MUG" root beer 🍺."
Look up CONGENIALITY in your dictionary, and you will find a photo of "LEON'S" as the definition.
I couldn't have been happier with the food, service, or staff.
If you want to find a NEW FAVORITE DINING EXPIERIANCE .... FIND LEON'S.
Sorry, I have no pictures, I forgot my phone.
However, I will NEVER FORGET the amazing way I was treated.

Passing through Danville we searched out some local cuisine. We were too late for breakfast(ends at 10:30) but had a good burger and bowl of chilli for lunch. The coffee was hot and so was the local gossip 🤓. Check Leon's out if you get the chance, it's a little off the beaten path but not hard to find. If it's good enough for Sasquatch it's good enough for anyone.
