Dang good food with fun and attentive servers! Had the catfish plate, swimmingly good fried fish and very good mac and cheese!! The Mac was so good I finished it first, wish I had gotten a double serving. Catfish was good with 4 pieces being more than I could eat. Ended up with a piece to take home as a tasty leftover snack. I’ll definitely be stopping in at Home Plate again.

A few days ago we were changing bus drivers in Hayti on a school trip and decided to walk across the road to try Home Pete for lunch. We told the friendly folks who greeted us that we had an hour for lunch and they said they would make sure we were not late for the bus. Being St. Patrick’s Day, the special was corn beef and cabbage, so we gave it a try. Everything was delicious and our server was so friendly. She asked a lot of questions about where we were going and showed genuine interest. Some of our students sat at another table and also said they had a great experience.
On our way home today, we changed drivers at the same spot in Hayti so we decided to go back to the Home Plate, with more folks from our bus coming this time since we enjoyed it so much the first time. This time I had the open-face roast beef, which was a very generous portion and was prepared excellently. The servers who were there the previous time remembered us and asked how our trip to New Orleans went. They were happy to see us again, like going to visit an old friend, whom we had just met a few days earlier! The front-of-house manager was especially warm to our folks - she went right over to the table of students who had come the first time and asked her “bus babies” how they enjoyed the trip. Thefirst-timers in our group also loved the place and enjoyed their food - everyone had something different and it was all great! If we ever come this way again, we will be sure to stop at the Home Plate and recommend it to everyone passing through.

I had the 4 piece fried chicken and it was great. The chicken breast was juicy, whereas most other restaurants it's on the dry side.

Passing through Hayti on a tour bus, my husband and I stopped in for lunch. We were greeted by the friendliest wait staff we’ve ever met. Our food was absolutely delicious! (The special of the day, corned beef and cabbage) Heading back home, our tour bus made the same stop. We knew exactly where to head for phenomenal service and food. This time we brought several of our friends. We were greeted with the same enthusiasm. In fact, a couple of them recognized us from a week before! Once again…superb service with a smile and fantastic food! (Open-faced roast beef and the ribeye sandwich) All of our friends agreed too! The front of house manager is a genuine gem!

Fantastic food and service. We came for the sweetheart deal (rib eye, potatoes, salad, and dessert). Dennis Gurley was playing music. It was a great night.

If passing by and hungry its a must stop. Burger was really good and had a really good bun (sourdough I think). Strips are HUGE and very good. The Nachos also huge and are typical bar Nachos. All the dishes are more than I could eat in 1 setting. Don't stop and eat a nasty fast food joint check this place out.

Stopped by while out at grizzly jig. We were so happy with the meal. All the goodness of home cooked. Delicious and a good serving size. The owners are engaged and the servers were great. A win for a lunch date.

Stopped for the night across street at the pilot.. Saw the sign for Home Plate and was tossed between stopping here or next door to Pizza Hut.. I am very glad I stopped..

Was greated and told to sit anywhere.. So I did.. Pork chops times 2 was on the menu.. Hard to find chops on a menu these days so went for them.. also a salad and they was out of corn so ventured with the onion rings.. Meal, was excellent and large portions for the price.. Place was clean and friendly.. I'll be back next time through..
