This conservation and recreation area in Harwinton, has plenty to offer. There's a library, town hall, senior center, baseball field, basketball courts, tennis courts, sand volleyball court, picnic pavilion, fishing pond, hiking trails, lacrosse field, a concession stand, and a playground. The parking lot was large.

Everything looked nicely maintained there. The library is small but has everything you would need in a library. On this visit, we played at the playground. The playground had a few swings, a couple of slides, playscape, a climbing playscape, and a ball pit. There were a couple of benches. Overall, a great spot to hang out! Everything is in close proximity and it's a great spot to get some fresh air and exercise.

My dog was nearly mauled to death here by another dog. Person immediately ran away to their car and drove off to avoid responsibility.
Even though multiple people admitted to knowing who did it we were never able to track down who was responsible.
Not only did this cost us $6,000 with the surgeries it also caused lifelong issues with my dog ranging from emotional issues to health problems that drastically reduced his quality of life.

Would NOT recommend bringing any animals or small children here because there are untrained dogs wandering around off leash constantly and the people who own them are part of some clique that refuses to hold each other accountable.

Big open parking lot, easy to get to, just go around the playground next to the library. Went there with my car for trunk or treat. Great turnout.

I thought the lights are supposed to be shut off by midnight?
When it's not cloudy, good place to look at Meteor showers!
There was one person who came driving up like a nut though. Left when he say I had something in my hands...My cane!

Halloween trunk or treat was awesome! Thanks so much for organizing! We had a happy and safe time and the kids loved the decorations, haunted cars and the Harwinton Fire Trucks! We will make this part of our Halloween tradition.
