Best place in Washington to get dinner! Stopped by after walking the nearby Hidden Valley Preserve trails. Beef tips with mushroom was was absolutely to die for. Tips were so delicious and melted in my mouth. Had a great trench onion soup as well as split some jalapeño corn bread for apps....amszing! Stop by and have a bite, you won't regret it!

Very cool place. A lot of historical charm. Super friendly servers and very tasty food. We only had a few appetizers but everything was excellent- we had the grilled shrimp, tomato soup and jalapeño cornbread. Would come back and have dinner!

Everybody is super nice until they realize you are not going to leave a tip. Sorry for “only” spending 33$ per person and trying to contribute eating at local restaurants. Some of us just don’t have the funds to always leave a tip. Nice to see that you are suddenly treated like garbage. Nice to see that all that kindness is actually fake because they want more money and couldn’t care less about you?

Had a girls weekend in CT. I made reservations. It was very humid out so we opted to sit inside. We sat in the dining room (not tavern) as it was lighter.
We had fried calamari app which was light and crisp with a nice little spice dipping sauce. I had the steak tips with mashed potatoes and summer veggies mostly squash. My friends had the bone in pork chop with sweet potato fries/cold slaw and crab cakes over mescaline lettuce. We all agreed the meal was excellent. The meat tender , everything fresh. Service was great. The only thing (and I can’t even say negative) was once the dining room filled up it got very hot inside. We asked for the ceiling fans to be turned up and were kindly obliged. Highly recommend. The drive alone through the scenic CT countryside is worth it in daylight. Plan to return in the fall.

So man alive, ,the French onion soup is delicious. I’m a soup person so this is a big deal to me. Got a flight of beer just to give everything a taste and was incredibly pleased with their location offerings. The Kent Falls Brewing and Woodbury Brown Ale were especially delicious.

In addition to the food it’s a post and beam classic made warmer by having a roaring fire. It’s a must stop.

Started off with the chili and nacho chips and my wife had the French onion soup with cheese. They were both delicious. I had a fresh turkey club sandwich with shoe string potatoes and a sliced dill pickle , you could tell that the turkey was made fresh.my wife had the chicken pot pie which was very filling an full of chicken and vegetables

Outdoor patio and tables on deck overlooking back and river. Patio is covered. Parking on top area as well as down near river. Lobster bisque $8 Warm and looked like white broth consistency. French onion. $8 Good cheese. Beef broth ok. Used croutons. Cob salad large and presented well. $15 chicken salad with cranberries and walnuts. No walnuts nor cranberries. But ok. Service. Saw our wait staff 4 times. Took order for beer, order for food, filled water glasses. 1 1/2 hours later dropped off bill.
