9/24 - Another pleasant night watching a film on the 2nd floor, pasta dinner with salad and roll, chef's salad, martini, French coffee and black tea. The fall related pumpkin cheesecake was defined as good, but the original was preferred by two people who shared it after the movie. Attendance was maybe two dozen people.

3/24 - Enjoyable evening on the second floor screening room. The pasta special that came with a house salad and a roll was delicious. The roast beef melt on pumpernickel with provolone and carmelized onions came with potato chips. Very good. My martini and French Coffee were fine drinks. The tuxedo mousse cake was eaten without a bite left along with tea. We had the whole room to ourselves except for another couple for this documentary, so the atmosphere was quite relaxing.

7/23 - Our party of four had an order of their fine chili, nachos, veggie burger, chicken sandwich, quiche w/small salad and burger. I have to add that their hamburgers are much improved. Larger and with a great grilled flavor.

June 2023 - late June Saturday night. Great to be here again. I can't believe it's been this long. Still the best place to see a film if you want to include a meal and cocktails with your entertainment.

This is such a great place to see a movie. Dinner and drinks from the bar are brought right to your seats while you watch a newly released movie. You can get fresh popcorn with real butter or nachos if you don't want dinner.

There are two movie theaters. Whichever film has sold more seats gets the larger room downstairs, which most people prefer. The other screening room is upstairs and is smaller, maybe holding half the seats and tables. Both get the same menus and service, which is quite a treat.

The food choices have remained pretty much the same over the years, but they work.

I've had both their salads, equally good. The cobb with chicken, egg and bacon and the chef's with roast beef, turkey, ham and cheese. Their homemade chili ordered by the cup or bowl is well made with optional sour cream and cheese, served with a hard roll and butter. Soups are clam chowder and French onion with a third special of the night. This Saturday was butternut squash.

Sandwiches are grilled reuben, breaded chicken cutlet, Philly cheese steak, seafood salad pita, hot sausage and onion, cheese, eggplant parm or a hamburger. There's a cold pork roast platter and two pasta choices - cheese tortellini or penne, both with marinara sauce.

There's usually a special appetizer and dinner selection, too. This weekend the app was garlic bread with marinara sauce on the side. Nicely toasted but not very much garlic. There's a mixed vegetable app, too, for vegetarians or those watching their diets.

Mixed drinks, wine and pitchers of beer and margaritas can be served along with tea or coffee. Desserts I can think of offhand are cheesecake with strawberries, mousse, carrot cake and chocolate cake.

Wait service is always dependable. The price of your movie tickets are added on to your dinner tab which is brought to you towards the end of the movie.

This is a great place to watch a movie because you can have dinner and drinks while watching the movie on the big screen.
This theater is sitting in picturesque Winsted, Connecticut. I love the look and feel of this downtown area.
While watching the movie, the wife and I were seated in free standing chairs next to a little table.
The staff was cordial and attentive.
If you haven't gone to see a movie in a theater like this, I feel you are missing out and need to experience it for yourself...
Good times

Visiting the Gilson is like taking a step back in time, but in a good way. Don't expect the high-end recliner seating that the chain theaters have, but there are two small theaters that serve drinks and food at your seat during the movie. The food is actually pretty good, staff is super friendly, and easy parking on either side of the street in front of the theater. You can order tickets online if you want, but I've never had any issues with getting them at the door. Great theater and highly recommended.

My husband, daughter, and I were excited to go. First time for us (all adults). A staff member, I guess, decided she didn't like us, she pretty mean because we asked how we order food. To the point that we weren't given our order for well over an hour, while we watched others who came 1/2 hour after us, order, eat, and have their table cleared. Otherwise, I think it would have been good. The food was ok, but we only had a sandwich, popcorn & a raw veggie plate. We did watch others get good drink service, so I guess that is a plus. After about an hour, the chairs start to get pretty uncomfortable, so i suggest picking a shorter movie, lol

Great venue to see curremt movies in a small, but initimate setting and order some lite dinner fare (soups, sandwhiches, salads, etc.) and/or drinks to enjoy before the show.

Been coming here with my parents ever since I was old enough. I love the style, though the downstairs beats the upstairs 10/10. Movie selection is usually quality, food is never a miss. A must see
