I don't even know what to say. I would have given this a one star but we actually enjoyed the escape room, which we generally do anyway because we love escape rooms. But from the get-go this was an odd experience. The employee acted as if he didn't want to be there, nor did he want us to be there either. He seemed very annoyed that we were even coming in to do an escape room. Usually every time we come to an escape room, the hosts are very friendly and engaging. This was also the first time we didn't have to sign a waiver. Which is okay I guess. I just thought it was general protocol at every escape room. He was so rude that after he took us to the room I literally asked him if he was okay. And he looked at me and said- I just have an ugly face. I was like, WHAT?!? I replied - um,no you don't. And he said - yeah, I know I do. I'm a redhead.

I was flabbergasted. I don't know if this is privately owned and he's the owner, or if this is a chain, or if Union Station runs/owns it. It. But if he is the owner he needs to find a different career. I almost felt like I was being punked and in a hidden camera show. If he is an employee you might need to find somebody who's more friendly and wants to work with the public.

The escape rooms at Union Station in Kansas City provide an engaging and thrilling experience, perfect for anyone who loves puzzles and challenges. We had an incredible time taking on two rooms: the 221B Baker Street room and the Da Vinci Code room. Both were cleverly designed with immersive themes and intricate puzzles that kept us fully engaged from start to finish.

The 221B Baker Street room was a detective’s dream, full of mysteries to unravel in a setting that felt like stepping into Sherlock Holmes’s world. The attention to detail in the decor and the complexity of the challenges made solving the room extremely satisfying. The Da Vinci Code room offered a completely different vibe, diving into history and cryptic codes. The puzzles were intricate yet logical, making every solved clue feel like a triumph.

What stood out the most was how the rooms required teamwork and problem-solving, which made the experience even more rewarding when we successfully completed both rooms. The staff were friendly, helpful, and enhanced the overall experience by ensuring everything ran smoothly.

Whether you’re a seasoned escape room enthusiast or trying it for the first time, the escape rooms at Union Station offer something for everyone. We thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and can’t wait to return to tackle more rooms. Highly recommended for a fun and memorable outing!

We have done every escape room there is to do in K.C. this one as soon as you walk in, you can tell the staff doesn't want to be there and that it isn't going to be a fun experience. The lobby is filled with all of the anticipation of a dentist's office. Entering the room, there's barely any story or starter video to put you into the experience. You're barely allowed to touch anything; the entire room is covered in Do Not Touch stickers leaving you feeling unsure whether any action is going to break the room.

Several of the puzzles needed someone to be tall enough to reach up high, which would have made it impossible for kids or shorter people to complete.

The puzzles feel random and arbitrary. If anything, the clues you're presented with in the room actively steer you away from the answer. If you ask for a hint, they basically just give you the next code outright. Even after asking the attendant for an explanation of the last puzzle, we were left feeling like there was no way anybody would work that out on their own.

My best friends got married and we came to do the dream escape room for after. Spending $32 per person with a total of 7 people, it was insane how rude the staff member was to us. When we asked questions, he seemed genuinely irritated that we had asked and would turn off the intercom before we could finish our question.
We breezed through almost the entire room, and then we got stuck at one portion as it was badly designed to be pressure sensitive rather than magnetized.
When we spent 15 minutes unsure what to do, the hint from the staff was unhelpful and only further confused us as a group. When we eventually failed, he walked in with a smirk on his face to show us what we’d missed.
He seemed satisfied that we had failed as we would’ve finished the room in 40 minutes if not for that single mechanic not working properly.
Overall, would not go back. Purely because of that staff member. Dude with the red-blonde beard, you should not work in a job where you are meant to help people have fun. You took too much satisfaction in our frustration.

We’ve done two rooms here. We sadly, didn’t escape either time. 🥹 The takeaway from this is don’t bite up more than u can chew!!!

Oh btw we all thought one of the rooms had far too much going on. The room also needed some things fixed since they were broke. Def would’ve helped if we had working parts 💔

Super fun! This was our first escape room ever and it was a fun experience. We did the first two rooms and escaped! The staff is kind and friendly, the rooms are pretty challenging, we will be going back soon the do the last and hardest room soon

Just visited Escape room KC. The room was okay itself, but every employee I interacted with was rude and was trying to get us out the door as fast as possible. If you’re going to pay $140+ for an escape game, the employees could at least pretend like they care and want you there.

The room itself was good. Very challenging even for being a “easy” room. It seemed like needing hints was inevitable for parts.
