Such a beautiful area to snorkel! Parking fills up quickly, but there are some spots on the main road. Do not underestimate the amount of water you will need on the way back up. The way down is fairly easy, but steep. The view is so worth all the hiking in the end! The trail takes you to the left at the end, towards the monument. We chose to stay straight and found the most beautiful beach that was less crowded than at the monument! Beware of the mongoose if you bring snacks, they will get to them. Highly recommend making the trip if you're able!

Let's start with the hike, which can be pretty tough depending on your fitness level. Hiking back up midday is not recommended as the heat can be pretty brutal. The hike down is not too bad, but I would watch your knee when hiking down. We brought light snacks and a good amount of water, along with snorkeling gear so it was a bit tougher. Hiking shoes or even closed toed shoes recommended.
During your hike, you will encounter a bunch of wild goats but they won't bother you at all.
The snorkeling itself is amazing. Really clear water with lots of fish swimming around. You can see a bunch of them even from the surface, and I'm not talking just the white transparent fish. You can see a bunch of yellow fish the moment you see the water. Going into the water can be dangerous as the lava rock gets mossy and can be very slippery.

Very intense hike definitely not for first time hikers, eldery, overweight people, or children. The hike down was fairly easy but
the way back was extremely intense. Take plenty of water and use sunscreen since most of the hike is not shaded. Intensity of this hike states that it's a moderate, I t
hink it's more of a hard to expertise level. It is a 4 mile hike (2 miles each way).

Best snorkeling place on the Island. Yellow, Puffer, Angel, Rainbow, sea urchins and so many more I don't know the names to! Pretty easy entry and safe waters. Lots of kids~adults~elderly folks there. I wore sandles and was just fine. Bake sure to bring water and hats. I'm a pretty good hiker the sun got to me pretty fast. And the most constant ascend up. 30% shade all the way around. Make sure to bring water! We stayed for about 5 hours total! I posted some pics of the road conditions

The hike down took us approximately 45 minutes. It was only moderately pretty--the same views can be found in better circumstances. We like to hike, but just honestly wasn't that great. At the bottom, there were snorkelers there and we planned on going, but the waves were a little rough, so weren't sure how to get into water, and also ww were told there were urchins today. Bring proper footwear and fins along with your snorkel gear if you go, as well as plenty of water for hydration, go in cooler periods of the day. We opted to skip and head back. The hike back is terrible. Very steep and long. We went fast and it took us 1.25 hours of miserableness. Not sure why anyone except locals would choose to do this, especially older and overweight people, people with childrem too. Don't recommend.
