In person, everyone was very friendly and helpful, but my phone experience was different. When I called to schedule inspections, they immediately referred me to the building commissioner. After being unable to reach the commissioner, I requested that they take a message, which they did reluctantly. I received a response for the inspection faster than the commissioner returned my call. When I called again for an after-pour inspection, I informed them that I couldn’t reach the inspector or commissioner. However, they still didn’t want to take my message and transferred me directly to the commissioner’s voicemail.

Dealing with the different rules and requirements in each municipality or village can be tricky as it is, so please help out when possible.

If you don't request them to fill the many potholes on the residential streets they simply won't. Despite it being part of what they are supposed to do because you as a resident pay taxes. They can put a hustling red light camera to tax you for not stopping completely before turning at a red light. Yet they can't fix the Raggedy streets with some of the money? If you call non-emergency you get talked to as if you are a criminal. anything but them tell you they're putting you through to dispatch? Instead you get an attitude from the female answering the phone.
In the summer of 2024 somehow taxes are thousands of dollars more to stay in the village of Calumet Park. The Village administrator will tell you anything. They would rather take time to figure out who's complaining than address the potholes in the streets and abandoned houses with tall Shrubbery everywhere. To add insult to injury (literally) these arrogant imbeciles don't think to prep the streets with salt before the ice storm that was on the news for days and days leading up to it. Somehow it made sense to them to not be proactive with the salt trucks in order to prevent accidents during the morning commute. random dope fiends Park their vehicles on my block for months at a time with no plates or stickers or tags. instead of the police doing something about that (after multiple complaints) they go to every block and put tow stickers and tickets on the residents vehicles if they look like they haven't moved.

I clearly see where the taxpayers money isn't going!!!
