This used to be my most favorite festival. It has turned into just another overly crowded, mini-Pride festival. There is already a Pride festival in Lakeview. Midsommarfest used to be unique because it was the only Swedish Midsommarfest in Chicago. Now it is nothing unique anymore and has lost too much of the interesting Swedish culture that made this festival unique. It is too crowded now - would be better if they would limit how many people can come through at a time. Not that I would wait at the entrance though. I like 16 Candles Band so would keep them.

Had a great time with my pup. Lots of fun and kind vendors. Would have been nice to have some more cool off options or signage to denote where the dog pool or human cool off areas were located. My facially challenged frenchie got a little overheated but we found some shade to hang in for 30 minutes and then he was good. Overall, was a very pleasant experience and would go back again!

Doesn’t really have anything to do with Swedish culture — just a normal street festival. Some of the food and decor is technically Swedish I suppose.

Try to get there no later than 7 pm if you’re there for the vendors. Booths start unofficially breaking down at 9 pm, but maybe that was because they were preparing for the next festival day.

It was super crowded on Saturday — could barely move — but might be less congested today (Sunday) with the colder rainy weather.

Decent entertainment, a lot of awesome artisans/shopping. Lots of people drinking, partying, and catching up with friends. Worth checking out if you like festival season or want something fun to do with your friend group.

Suggested $10 donation at the entrance with cash or Venmo.

10$ suggested donation! But lots of great food Mexican, polish, Thai 😋 the pierogies were nice and stuffed ,music is great live bands at different stages in the fest, found free parking in Ashland woo

We love going to this event but this year it was very disappointing. We got there at 11:00 am and a lot of the vendors had not opened up yet. It was mostly food, LGBT+ community services and very little merchandise. Hoping next year’s is better.
