Unwelcoming and possibly discriminatory interaction toward our multiracial family from a staff member today led to us leaving and filing a complaint.

We know the holidays can be a stressful time and cause people to act in unpredictable ways, even more-so when technology isn’t working the way it should, so when the employee seemed to ignore us at the counter without greeting us from just a couple feet away and then replying to our inquiry about a lane with “Well, you’ll have to wait on that because my system is rebooting from an update”, we chalked it up to holiday stress or overworked without help or whatever else might cause him to be unpleasant and expressed our family could patiently wait. We are frequent bowlers and understand sometimes you have to be patient for a lane.

As we waited, things started to not add up. A group came in behind us and his entire demeanor shifted. He became more pleasant and even made a sarcastic comment about the technology, but seemed so rigid when interacting with us. That group was even offered to bowl on abandoned lanes already open by previous customers, that’s how friendly he was to them.

We thought it was weird but tried not to think about it, but the longer we were there, the more targeted our family felt.

The situation escalated after inquiring with the employee about if we could buy any water. His combative responses lead to us feeling so uncomfortable and unwelcome that we needed to leave and didn’t even get our game started there, although by now it had finally come on.

We just moved here over the summer and used to frequent Strikers in Jeff City - with our experience today, that drive is well worth it to not be targeted and pushed out of a business due to some erratically unpleasant employee.

Upon entering, one might notice the attempts at modernization - a fresh coat of paint here, some new furniture there. However, these changes feel superficial, failing to address deeper needs such as updated bowling equipment, enhanced lane technology, or more comfortable seating areas. It's as though the establishment aimed for a new look without fully committing to the quality improvements that bowlers would genuinely appreciate.

The contrast between the promise of a premium experience and the reality of the makeover is stark. Patrons are left to question the value for money, especially when compared to other venues that offer more bang for the buck. While AMF Bowling might still provide a basic bowling experience, the discrepancy in pricing versus the quality of the revamp can leave a sour taste.

In conclusion, AMF Bowling's attempt at renovation leaves much to be desired, especially when taking into account the premium pricing strategy. For avid bowlers and casual players alike, the experience might not live up to expectations set by the cost. It serves as a reminder that a successful makeover should go beyond the surface, investing in quality improvements that enhance the customer's experience, rather than just the aesthetics.

I called and spoke to a really nice young lady about setting up a league at this bowling weekly with 24 people on Feb 11th. She said she was going to send a email to the gm with my name (Thomas) and phone number and will call me the next day which is feb 12th. I told the lady if i come by and there was cars out front, could I check the weights of different bowling balls, so I can order one online. I drove by today around 330pm. Which an older gentleman grayish goatee snow shoveling in the parking lot with a young kid pushing a salt spreader. I told him that I was going to bowl here and wondering if I can check the weight of a bowling ball so i can order one online. He said the bowling store is not open. I just wanted to feel the house bowling balls. Just how he said it (sarcastically) stated," I'm not going in and bring out each ball." I just wanted to step in really quick which would have taken 2 minutes to check. I have a business, and I would not missed an opportunity to have residual income of 24 people (20to 30 a week and that's not covering beverages and food)a week for 3 to 4 months. I drove over to level up at the mall and check the weight of bowling balls their. I spoke to a person there and explain what i was doing. It looks like they will be matching the online prices and threw in a couple extras for the league I'm setting up there.. I wanted to share a miss opportunity for business. Please disregard the email since I will be doing business at the other bowling ally.

Decent food with impressive prices, there's discounted specials on the amount of people & games/time played. Shoes were sanitized immediately after returning & good, friendly customer service

Expensive for novice family oriented fun. If family of 4, then packages don't apply and must use reserve-a-lane. $160 for 4 ppl x 2 hours. Ouch!

Too expensive! Unlimited bowling per person is 21.99 plus tax and that doesn't even include shoe rental. The atmosphere isn't that nice, so I wouldn't recommend bowling here.
