IRJ was recommended to us by a co worker , he said it was one of the best trips they had ever been on , I must say I agree . Staff and guides were incredible. Wife was a little skeptical of the tent camping but her fears were quickly rectified. We had our 38th anniversary during this trip and the crew made it very special . Meet some really amazing people from all over the US , great trip!!We will be back .

This is the second trip I've taken with IRJ and both trips were fantastic and completely unique. New friends were made. Many laughs were shared. I learned a lot about our environment and the river. I broke through my comfort zone with support and safety making each challenge (like getting the duckie) a positive experience. The food was EXCELLENT. The guides are highly qualified and several have been there for many years which is a true testate to Skip & Julia's philosophy. One of the guides even told me that IRJ is "the company" to work for b/c they treat their guides so well. That speaks volumes to how they run their business and take quality and care seriously for their guests as well as their staff.

IRJ is the absolute BEST!! It was all smiles the whole time.

Review of Idaho River Journeys

I would give these folks 10 stars, if I could! I just returned from their white water rafting trip down the Middle Fork of the Salmon River. It was an absolutely amazing adventure. The magnificent beauty of the landscape and excitement of the rapids was equalled only by our “renaissance” river guides. They not only skillfully and safely navigated us through the rapids, but they set up and repacked our camp everyday, cooked and served gourmet fare for EVERY meal, led hikes to points of interest, educated us with their knowledge of the river’s history, geology and wildlife, and entertained us with their musical talents and stories of their life experiences. I can certainly say that our guides quickly became friends and they will be central to my cherished memories of this trip. Skip and Julia did an excellent job planning, preparing, and conducting the trip. Every aspect of the journey seemed to proceed smoothly and successfully. They even handled the surprise wildfire at the end of the trip without a problem. I can’t think of anything that would have made this trip better. For me, it was perfect in every way. I very highly recommend these folks if you are considering a rafting trip on the Salmon—and if you haven’t considered it, you must! There are few places left on earth that offer such an experience through 100 miles of unspoiled wilderness.

An absolutely incredible outfitter, family, staff and experience!

Last week we took a float down the Middle Fork of the Salmon River with Idaho River Journeys (a multi generational family run business) and all expectations were exceeded. With changing weather and river conditions the crew had to pivot and scramble to accommodate 24 guests at the start of this trip and you would never have been able to tell it was not "business as usual".

The local knowledge of the crew allowed us to have the most adventurous (but safe) and scenic trip on the river and off the river, hiking to some of the most beautiful destinations this country has to offer.

A special thanks to the guides who rowed, instructed, taught, cooked (we ate better than at home or in restaurants), cleaned, entertained and more. Skip, Matt, Pat, Libby, Ry, Corby, Joe and Nate - our sincerest thanks. Getting to be a part of your crew for a week was the highlight of our year. And though Julia was not on our trip, her baked goods certainly were and now leave me with a disdain for any store bought cookies on my shelves at home.

Thank you IRJ, truly the trip of a lifetime.

Idaho River Journeys provided a fantastic trip on the Middle Fork of the Salmon. While we have been on raft trips before, this was second to none! The guests were terrific. The staff were out of this world: talented, kind, fun, and they made us feel at home every day.

We recently completed a trip with Idaho River Journeys down the Middle Fork of the Salmon River. It was an incredible experience all around. The 7 guides we had were knowledgeable, great cooks and lots of fun. From the first night we met Skip and Julie at our pre-meeting, I knew we had chosen the right company to raft with. It was amazing to be off the grid, no phones except to take pics as we were in the Frank Church Wilderness. We sat down with a bunch of strangers on day one, and on day 6 we had made friends with so many. It was good for my soul as well as my partners. I highly recommend this company as they are #1 in my opinion.

Patrick was not only professional in his role as trip leader and river guide but a great entertainer around the campfire. I would recommend this company to anyone and hope that I can utilize them sometime again in the future!
