We had a great stay at the hostel. We were there for one night around our visit to the volcano park. Check in was easy - directions were clear. Location was good for our stay. You could walk to breakfast (several choices for all dietary restrictions), parking was easy and it was close enough to the national park. Small little hippie town - we felt safe but there were people who appeared unhoused and the scent of marijuana in the area. There were multiple locks so each space felt secure. For the price, the room was very spacious for our family of 4. Two rooms with a bed for each kid was awesome (Guava room). Pretty view out of the windows. Our room and all common spaces were clean, organized, and simple, but had thoughtful details. Our room was hot during the day, but cooled down nicely at night and the provided fans made a nice difference (no AC). Bathrooms were clean and kitchen well equipped (we really only used the fridge and sink though). One bathroom is inside, but the showers and second toilet were outside - we used both and they were very clean and provided appropriate privacy. We liked the bird and frog noises, but the road noise was less enjoyable. Surprisingly, we couldn't hear the karaoke bar next door. Earplugs were provided (we used our own as we have some sensory sensitivities and always carry our preferred types). Our kids left multiple items and the owner met us outside to return them later that day. We would stay again.

We flew over from Oahu to visit a friend in the area. We stayed the weekend and enjoyed the hostel. It was simple and accommodating. We loved sitting in the back and enjoyed all of our meals here. There is a restaurant The Veli downstairs which is super convenient and has amazing food. There are many places to eat in the area and some cute shops. It was about 30 min drive from the airport, but an enjoyable ride with farmer's markets on the way. We will def book again when we come back!

I can't say enough about Pahoa Village Hostel or the host, both impeccable. It is a hostel so you will share a bathroom, but the layout was perfect to retain privacy. Rooms are clean. The sheets, towels, pillows, and mattresses were in like new shape. The location is superb, right on a quaint but hella fun 1-street town with plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, social bars public pool, and totally swinging place to be at night. Oh and there's Bob the house cat. Love him. I'll be back this spring for another stay and to catnap Bob Cat.

Wow what a lovely and sweet little place to find ... I booked same day for $45 deal and it was wonderful. There is only street parking but the locals are nice about it. There is an orange cat ? to hang out with on the porch. It's very clean and simple. The owners give out tips for places to eat and visit in the area. And at knight the porch is perfect for relaxing alone with a cat along with random toads and frogs stopping by. Highly recommend for 1 or 2 people at most.

Super cute....We needed some place to stay last minute and it literally took me 5 minutes to book. Super cute place and everything you could expect and more for the price we paid. It cost me $92 bucks for 5 of us me, my husband and 3 children. We stayed in the guava room and it was really spacious and comfortable. Laundromat down the road 5-6 min walk, 7-11 is about a min walk down the road, Kaleo's right across the street has pupu, frest fish, burgers, steak and pasta. The host was super chill and sweet. We love it and had an amazing experience.

Cute hostel and clean room for an affordable price. Loved the location in a smaller town that we otherwise may not have passed through. The town is situated close to where the 2018 lava flows stopped, so if you drive just a little ways out you can see lava fields and roads that were cut off by the eruption. The sound of coqui frogs put us to sleep every night, and we woke up to beautiful greenery surrounding us. We loved sitting in the outside common space, and we made friends with the hostel's cat. Our host was very communicative and accommodating. Overall great experience
