Just made a visit to this library for a meeting with 2 other ladies for an ISP meeting for my son who attends the Legacy Behavior Health Center. Meeting was scheduled for 10:00, my son and I arrived a few minutes early. At 9:59 one of the ladies called to let me know that she was running late. I answered my phone when I seen that it was her calling. She let me know that she was having car trouble and running late, at the time I did not know the other lady had a scheduling conflict and would not be there. When I hung up the phone, "Mr. Librarian" said to me, "If you want to use your phone you will have to go to the lobby" ok, my mistake, I should have remembered I was in the library. However, he went on to add "Even Helen Keller could have seen the sign on the door". Big mistake! He did not know me, nor I him. That comment was uncalled for and totally disrespectful! After 25 minutes of waiting and the other ladies had not arrived, I stopped by the front desk to let him know why I was leaving and that I did not appreciate the smart-aleck comment he made. He responded with a sarcastic "have a nice day ma'm". If you don't want to be talked down to, don't go in the doors because he also had the same condescending attitude with a young man whom I believe was there to use the computer for a job search. After speaking with one of the ladies I was supposed to meet with trying to reschedule the meeting, she said he has been rude to her employees as well and it was not appreciated. I hope this incident is not perceived as being petty, I get up every day and do the best to deal with the hand i have been dealt. But it was the eye-roll and Helen Keller comment for me. So instead of trying to meet at this library, which I pass by multiple times a day, we will be meeting at a library in a neighboring town.

They have plenty of African American titles/authors and many out—of- print materials. More importantly to me, because I am visually impaired, they stock a large and varied number of cds/recorded books. Worth going the extra distance!

I needed help with my resume and forms printed from my phone. The Librarian and Jamie the computer expert (yes he is to me) were both soooo on it!!! They worked their magic and now I have printed forms that were urgent and a new current resume. They are amazing!! I am so grateful to both of them. Thank God for Brooks County Library, the Librarian, and Jamie. Great Team Work!!
